A Badasses Guide to the Holidays! A Badass looks good all year long! The Holidays are no exception - we have to look amazing in our New Years Dress after all - am I right? Have you been indulging a bit too much since Thanksgiving? Don’t stress! We got you! Simply follow our 10 tips to stay slim (and energized!) during the holidays. Your gut and your ass will thank you for it.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Drink Warm Water with 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Drink this first thing in the morning, before meals and before bed. Apple cider vinegar alkalizes the body, speeds up metabolism and helps you feel fuller longer. The enzymes in apple cider vinegar also promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, and can help regulate gluten issues! Perfect remedy for holiday binging!

Bonus: add a dash of cayenne pepper for an extra metabolism and energy boost!

2. Load up on leafy greens!

Incorporate leafy greens into each meal to keep you from gorging on “unhealthy food.” Leafy greens are high in nutrients and minerals that help burn fat, feed your gut and produce healthy enzymes that assist with digestion and detoxification.

Simple Green Salad Recipe

1 bag of organic mixed greens (kale, spinach, arugula ect)

Fresh Herbs: dill, scallions, basil (chopped)

Dressing - whisk together

Juice from 1 lemon

1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tbsp MCT oil or olive oil

Salt, pepper, garlic salt

1 teaspoon dijon mustard

Mix together; leafy greens, herbs and dressing

3. Eat before the Party!

If you are anything like us, you go to parties starving and then load up on cheese and crackers immediately upon arrival. Try to eat before going to parties to avoid binge eating. Opt for a salad and bone broth with a ACV water or a green smoothie before heading out. Of course you are still going to eat once you get to the party, but you won’t be as hungry and you will make better choices. Plus you will have more energy and you can feel better knowing you nourished your body!!

4. SWEAT!

We all are guilty of neglecting our physical exercise during the holidays but this is when we need it the MOST! Exercising not only gives us more energy and elevates our mood but it also helps our bodies sweat out all the toxins we are putting in it. Don’t have any time? Try my quick pre shower workout! I do this everyday before getting in the shower just in case I don’t have time to SWEAT the rest of the day.

25 Squats - slow and steady! Feel the burn by doing slow and controlled movements. You should feel every muscle in your leg, booty and abs engage as you move through the squats!

15 squat pulses - after completing the 25th squat, lightly pulse up and down and the lowest point of your squat

30 Crunches! Do 30 of any abdominal exercise you like! I do 15 low boat crunches and 15 leg lifts (lay on back, legs extended up towards the ceiling, flex feet so bottom of the feet are facing the ceiling, slowly lower legs down until the almost touch the floor and then return)

20 Donkey Kicks Each Side - get on all fours, bend leg at knee and flex foot up towards the ceiling. Slowly pulse the bottom of your foot up towards the ceiling. Repeat on opposite side

60 second plank - Plank you for planking! Hold a plank for 1 minute! Keep yours hips down and core tight AF!

30 second mountain climbers - do mountain climbers for 30 seconds as fast as you can

Feeling Badass? Do 3 rounds of this resting 1 minute in between sets!

Also, try hitting up the sauna or steam room! Sweating while your body is in rest mode helps detox even deeper - that means the toxins that are hiding in your fat cells!!! Try 15 - 30 minutes a day of relaxed sweat sessions!

5. Green Juice All Day, Everyday!

If you haven’t realized by now, you should be consuming as many greens as possible to nourish and alkalize your body! Make it easy to up your greens with our Badass Master Green juice recipe! Make 1000 ml at one time and drink it throughout two days. Recommended: one cup in the morning everyday and shots of the rest of the juice throughout the day whenever I need a boost!

Master Green Juice Recipe - makes 1 liter

4 stalks celery

2 cucumbers

2 lemons

1 bag of leafy greens

2 thumbs of ginger

2 handfuls of parsley

Wash ingredients

Remove skin from lemon

Peel and chop ginger

Chop cucumber & celery

Add all ingredients to cold pressed juicer. My favorite Juicer is the Hurom Juicer in Rose Gold!!!

6. DRINK WATER!

Do you feel hungry? You are probably thirsty!!! Make sure to drink water throughout the day. Drink a glass of room temp water first thing in the morning. Follow by ACV water!

Do I need to remind you that sparkling water…. YES... La Croix is NOT water! It contains water but has elements that cause dehydration. Drink purified, still water. A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in water. So if you weigh 140 pounds, aim for 70 ounces of water over the course of the day. Add lemon or ginger for added detoxification.

7.  Be cautious of sugar, dairy and yesssss alcohol!

Its ok to allow yourself to indulge over the holidays - in fact it's almost inevitable. Try to set limits on yourself when it comes to these three metabolism killers!

“ I will have 3 cocktails MAX and drink a glass of water in between each one”

“ I will have 1 cookie then switch to the fruit plate”

Having a plan is always the key to success! Give yourself a reality check… Before overindulging, ask yourself these questions…

Do I really need or even want that 4th cookie?

Is my eating during the Holidays in line with the body I want?

Does this food (or drink) make me feel good?

8. Make time for yourself!

Tis the season… to get caught up in the holiday madness and let your self-care habits fall to the back burner. This can lead to increased stress, immune deficiency and, YES, weight gain. Take time to meditate for a few minutes daily, read a good book, or sneak away to yoga. Even better, if you have the time, pamper yourself with a massage or spa day.

9. Treat yo’self first!

Stay motivated to workout this season by treating yourself to some new fitness gear. It could be something simple like resistance bands that you can use anywhere, or treating yourself to those new Alo leggings (extreme ripped warrior pant what???) you’ve been eyeing - whatever will keep you motivated to get moving!

10. Nix the guilt!

We get it - you only get to have your aunt’s famous pecan pie once a year. Whatever your indulgence of choice is, allow yourself to enjoy it, be grateful when indulging, then move on! Feelings of guilt after eating foods you don't usually indulge in can breed more unhealthy behaviors. Do not stress about it the next day or even a minute after! The great news is that our bodies bounce back. Instead of feeling guilty, grab a green juice and head to a hot yoga class the next day! It is alllll about balance after all :)
